  1. Version 2.14 - major changes:

  3.    We have added a new scanning "engine", which does not use search strings
  4.    like the earlier one.  Currently less than 200 viruses are being
  5.    detected with the new engine, but all new viruses are added to it.  The
  6.    old engine still handles the remaining 4300 viruses, but we are
  7.    converting them over to the new one and when finished, users of F-PROT
  8.    can expect a significant speed increase, as well as a significant
  9.    reduction in memory requirements.

  11.    The "Quick Scan" option has been removed, as it was not significantly
  12.    faster than the regular scan.  This also reduced the size of the program
  13.    by 20 KB and reduced the memory requrements even more.

  15. Version 2.14 - the following problems were found and corrected:

  17.    Some minor false alarms were fixed:

  19.     MtE false alarms in some non-executable files.
  20.  
  21.    File names longer than 78 bytes were not displayed correctly.

  23.    Some V2P6-infected files were incorrectly reported as "New or modified
  24.    variant of Invisible_Man".  This was fixed, identification of the
  25.    Invisible_Man was improved, and disinfection of those viruses added.

  27.    Earlier versions did not detect the Bobo.1363 virus reliably - this has
  28.    been fixed, and disinfection of this virus added.
  29.  
  30.    Under certain circumstances, Vacsina-infected files were not disinfected
  31.    correctly.  This has been fixed now.

  33. Version 2.14 - minor improvements and changes:

  35.    Heuristic scanning will now report when it finds "armored" programs -
  36.    programs that tricks to make heuristic analysis and analysis difficult,
  37.    but are not necessarily virus-infected.
